General Description:
The VDC/BIM Coordinator leverages BIM tools and processes to streamline design and construction projects, ensuring efficient coordinated project delivery while providing support to the VDC/BIM Manager as well as the Design and Construction teams.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Implement the Project BIM Execution Plan and associated BIM workflows, ensuring project-specific BIM requirements are maintained.
- Conduct regular model health checks and quality control reviews on consultants’ models to ensure compliance with BIM standards and LOD requirements.
- Facilitate and manage information flow between all project stakeholders.
- Utilize BIM tools and platforms for coordination, clash detection, constructability review, quantity takeoffs, 4D scheduling, planning, logistics, 5D visualization, and immersive technologies such as virtual and augmented reality.
- Coordinate design documents in consultation with the Design and Construction teams.
- Perform interference detection through both visual inspection and automated clash detection.
- Follow up and delegate tasks with consultants and other third parties to resolve coordination issues.
- Prepare 2D and 3D site logistics, crane, and hoist studies.
- Develop, maintain, and publish the Federated model weekly.
- Manage RFIs: issue, review, track, and follow up on all Requests for Information.
- Manage Issuances: review and coordinate addendums and site instructions, publish and distribute documentation.
- Review and publish project Specifications.
- Review construction schemes and color charts.
- Review and publish marketing and legal drawings.
- Review and coordinate trade shop drawings. (e.g., formwork, rebar, windows, miscellaneous metals)
- Lead and host consultants’ coordination meetings, tracking and documenting coordination issues for discussion.
- Develop 3D Views and illustrations as requested by the design or construction teams.
- Create sequencing drawings to support coordination in critical project areas.
- Support subcontractors with design clarification using 3D views and dimension assistance.
- Conduct regular site walks to ensure the most current design changes are acknowledged and implemented on site.
- Create 4D work simulations aligned with the project schedule.
- Perform laser scanning and produce point clouds, floor flatness reports, and as-built models.
- Capture 360-degree photographs of site progress and link them to corresponding locations in project drawings.
- Model shop drawings and develop Revit families as required.
- Assist the project and site management teams with BIM-related tasks for project coordination.
- Provide project BIM administration support as needed.
- Perform additional BIM-related duties as assigned by the VDC/BIM Manager.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in VDC/BIM coordination, preferably with on-site exposure.
- Background in Architecture or Construction Management is preferred.
- Solid understanding of construction drawings, building structures, and construction processes.
- Experience in interdisciplinary coordination and collaboration.
- Advanced proficiency in Revit.
- Knowledge of major BIM software and related technologies.
- Experience using Bluebeam for 2D overlays and coordination.
- Familiar with Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC) and cloud workshared modeling.
- Experience with laser scanning and processing point clouds.
- Strong organizational skills and keen attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively on construction sites.
- Passion for the construction industry and interest in innovation.
- Ability to work collaboratively in team environments.
- Willingness to learn new skills and software to meet project requirements.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
