Contract: Permanent, Full Time, 42 hours per week

Salary: £50,000 base + Overtime rates + Company Van + Benefits

Our client is a well-established drainage and wastewater services company operating across the South West. Working with local water authorities and major construction clients, the business plays a key role in maintaining essential infrastructure. With a large and growing fleet of specialist vehicles, they place a strong emphasis on safety, compliance, and operational excellence.

We are recruiting for an experienced HGV Workshop Manager to take ownership of a sizeable mixed fleet including specialist tankers, alongside a fleet of HGVs and vans. This is a hands-on leadership role where you will have direct line management of an HGV fitter, who you will work closely with, as well as being responsible for all aspects of fleet maintenance, compliance, and workshop management.

About the role:
  • Manage and carry out the maintenance and repair of a mixed fleet of specialist vehicles including tankers, HGVs and company vans.
  • Plan and execute all servicing, MOT preparation, inspections, and defect rectification to ensure full DVSA compliance.
  • Lead reactive repairs to minimise vehicle downtime and maintain operation availability.
  • Oversee and manage one HGV Fitter, ensuring consistent standards and workshop performance.
  • Maintain accurate records of inspections, repairs, part usage, and compliance documentation.
  • Liaise daily with the Transport Manager and Operations Manager to prioritise workload based on operational need.
  • Manage parts ordering, stock control, tooling, and workshop housekeeping.
  • Coordinate a rotating shift pattern to ensure full availability during hours of operation.
  • Respond to vehicle breakdowns as required.
  • Assist with LOLER and PAT inspections when required.
  • Ensure full compliance with transport legislation, company policies, and SHEQ requirements.
About You:

A recognised qualification in HGV maintenance (NVQ Level 2/3, City & Guilds or equivalent).
