This isn't simply a warehouse management role.

It's an opportunity to shape how an entire warehouse operation will work for the next decade.

Our client is a leading UK food manufacturer investing significantly in its supply chain infrastructure, including a major warehouse transformation programme and the implementation of a new Warehouse Management System (WMS).

They're looking for an experienced Interim Warehouse Manager to lead this critical phase of the programme, looking after a single-site on a continuous, multi-shift operation.

This is not about simply keeping a warehouse running.

This is about challenging existing ways of working, improving systems, strengthening inventory control, designing future warehouse processes and ensuring the business is fully prepared for the next phase of its operational evolution.

If you enjoy walking into a business, asking "why?", building better ways of working and leaving behind a stronger operation than the one you inherited, this could be exactly the assignment you're looking for.

Approximately 60% of the role will focus on the warehouse transformation and WMS implementation - reviewing current operations, redesigning warehouse processes, developing future procedures and ensuring the business is ready for a successful implementation.

The remaining 40% will focus on warehouse leadership, providing direction to the existing management team, reviewing the organisation structure, developing capability and ensuring the warehouse function is fit for the future.

This is an opportunity for someone who enjoys challenging existing ways of working, building sustainable operational improvements and leaving a lasting legacy.

The Role

Working as part of the transformation steering group, you'll act as the operational lead for the warehouse programme, working across Operations, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Inventory and IT to deliver a successful WMS implementation while maintaining a high-performing warehouse operation.

You'll balance strategic transformation with hands-on leadership, ensuring both the systems and the people are ready for the next phase of the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Warehouse Transformation & WMS
  • Lead the warehouse workstream for the WMS implementation.
  • Review, map and redesign warehouse processes from goods-in to dispatch.
  • Develop future operating procedures and standard ways of working.
  • Improve inventory control, warehouse governance and system utilisation.
  • Ensure warehouse requirements are embedded within the wider transformation programme.
  • Drive continuous improvement and operational readiness.
  • Review and strengthen stock accuracy, inventory control and warehouse governance, ensuring robust processes are in place to support the new WMS.
  • Warehouse Leadership
  • Lead and support the warehouse management team.
  • Review the warehouse structure and recommend future organisation design.
  • Ensure the team has the capability and skills required for the future operation.
  • Coach and develop warehouse leaders while maintaining operational performance.
  • Act as the senior operational escalation point throughout the programme.

About You

You'll have experience delivering warehouse transformation within food or beverage manufacturing and will have successfully implemented or played a leading role in a WMS project.

You'll combine strong operational credibility with excellent project leadership and be equally comfortable engaging with warehouse teams and senior stakeholders.

Experience with systems such as Manhattan, SAP EWM, Unity, Blue Yonder, Körber, Oracle WMS or High Jump would be advantageous.

Package

  • £500–£550 per day + expenses or FTC £70,000-£90,000 + benefits
  • 6–9 month assignment
  • Berkshire
  • Immediate start preferred
  • Opportunity to shape the future warehouse operation of a leading UK food manufacturer
