An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Class Teacher to join High Point Academy. The High Point Academy opened in September 2021 and we aim for all our pupils to be “ACE”. We have ambitious aspirations for all our learners, wish to challenge the impossible and encourage independence for all.

We educate up to 112 pupils aged 11‑16 years with autism and moderate learning difficulties. High Point is part of Forward Education Trust.

Assigned duties include supporting school activities, attending educational trips, extra‑curricular activities and parents’ evenings, which may require some out‑of‑hours availability.

Responsibilities

  • Be enthusiastic and keen to learn – suitable for an innovative teacher or a trainee.
  • Be passionate about developing children as independent learners and thinkers.
  • Develop excellent teaching practice and create a learning environment where all pupils can achieve their best.
  • Commit to making learning experiences memorable and fun.
  • Communicate effectively with strong interpersonal skills and work as part of a team.
  • Organise, professional, proficient with excellent IT skills.
  • Work with the SENCO to ensure pupils with SEND are appropriately supported.
  • Work with the DSL and deputies to promote safeguarding.
  • Work with the designated teacher for LAC to support LAC and previously LAC.

  • Hold a QTS qualification.
