High Pine Music is a music tuition team running instrumental lessons, group sessions, ensembles and clubs in schools and other settings across the south of the UK. We're growing the team for the new school year. Roles range from part-time positions through to full-time. We'll match you to roles that suit your location, your instruments and your availability. We hire on fit before hours β the role gets shaped around the right person, not the other way round.
What we teach
Our core instruments are guitar, bass, drums, piano and vocals. We'll need at least one of these at a high level. As part of your role we may consider you to deliver one of our ukulele clubs β you don't need to be an expert at it, and your current skills will transfer well. Full training given if it's new to you. If you teach a second core instrument at a working level, that opens up more varied roles across more schools. The wider your skills, the more work will be available to you. We're also open to hearing from teachers of instruments aside from our core list. Our regular work is concentrated there, so opportunities may be more limited β but we'd still like to hear from you.
Hours, salary and structure
Roles are salaried and employed, from part-time through to full-time. Salary Β£28,000 to Β£32,000 a year for full-time positions, depending on experience. Pro-rata for part-time. 11 weeks of paid holiday. 45p per business mile, on top of teaching pay. Performance-based bonus scheme of up to Β£1,500 a year β based on student retention and parent feedback. Workplace pension β automatically enrolled when eligible. Optional paid work during school holidays.
What you'd be doing
Teaching peripatetic lessons, group sessions and in-school clubs across our partner schools. Time also given for content and lesson-resource work β a chance to build something with lasting value beyond the lessons themselves.
What we offer
- Term-time only, Monday to Friday β weekends are yours.
- All equipment provided. You can of course bring your own preferred equipment if you'd rather.
- Full training and ongoing development as you take on new instruments, age groups or services.
- A small, friendly team β you'll know everyone, and have a real say in how we grow.
- A clear route to expanding your role as our portfolio grows.
We're looking for someone who:
- has a genuine love of music and of helping others play.
- is happy to teach across different levels, from beginners onward.
- is comfortable being the face of High Pine Music with students, schools, teachers and parents β building real relationships with everyone you work with.
- is reliable, organized, and good with children.
- has a full UK driving licence and own transport β you'll move between schools.
- is eligible for an enhanced DBS check β we'll arrange one.
Music teaching qualifications and a performing background are welcome, but not essential. We hire on the whole picture. Rolling start dates from September 2026.
