Our Values
About the Position
We are looking for an enthusiastic, data-driven and forward-thinking YouTube Channel Manager to join High Performance as we approach our next stage of accelerated growth.
In this role, you will take on the day-to-day ownership of a number of our YouTube channels, working closely with the YouTube lead to execute our desired growth strategy across shows in order to achieve company-wide targets. You will take charge of packaging, back-end optimisation, and analytics to maximise audience reach and engagement at scale.
The ideal candidate will have proven experience in managing YouTube channels, with a proven understanding of how to win the click on YouTube, with a strong technical toolkit (Premiere, Photoshop), SEO optimisation, and an understanding of YouTube analytics. A keen interest in the following High Performance sub-categories would be preferred (Sport, F1, football, experts).
This position requires a proactive, self-sufficient operator and good communicator, who is equally comfortable briefing and creating when necessary. They will manage day-to-day channel operations, ideate and run packaging tests for titles and thumbnails, with the ability to provide actionable insights to the YouTube lead and help inform future strategy.
Our goal is to welcome everyone and create inclusive teams and workplaces. We take our responsibilities under the Equality Act seriously, we celebrate differences and encourage everyone to be themselves at work.
Responsibilities:
- Day-to-day channel management: Take full ownership of scheduling and optimising across various channels within the High Performance portfolio in accordance with the agreed strategy.
- Drive audience growth across all channels: Maximise the potential of both new and archive content through close collaboration with producers, editors, and the YouTube Lead.
- Analysis and reporting: Track and analyse YouTube Analytics (retention curves, traffic sources, audience demographics) to assess performance, identify trends, and report back to the YouTube Lead and wider team.
- Drive audience growth: Maximise the potential of both new and archive content through close collaboration with YouTube Lead and producers, to help super-charge a long form and short form strategy across shows.
- Collaborate on data-led testing frameworks: Help devise new title recipes and packaging formats that sell our videos in the most engaging way, collaborating with both the YouTube Lead and show producers and utilising data-backed insights.
- New feature trials & experimentation: Support the YouTube Lead in testing new YouTube features, community tools, and formats, providing structured feedback on what works.
- Thumbnail direction & hands-on creation: Brief and collaborate with external designers to produce high-CTR thumbnails, while retaining the ability to quickly create ad-hoc artwork yourself when necessary.
Skills & Experience:
- Proven experience in managing and growing YouTube channels, preferably with evidence of past successes and the ability to work across multiple channels.
- A deep understanding of YouTube algorithms and metadata optimisation, alongside proficiency with YouTube Studio Analytics, and other related tools.
- Competency in video and image editing software (e.g., Premiere Pro, Photoshop) with the ability to edit clips or thumbnails on an as-needed basis.
- Strong SEO understanding and copywriting skills for click-worthy, authentic titles and descriptions that will engage our target audience and match our tone of voice.
- A test and measure mindset: able to design experiments, monitor the effectiveness of different strategies, and make clear recommendations based on results.
- Ability to work under pressure and to deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong organisational and communication skills, and an impeccable attention to detail.
- Ability to work with a high degree of autonomy, resolving problems, making sound decisions and knowing when to refer upwards.
- Experience of reacting to constant changes in priorities and reorganising workload to meet changing deadlines.
High Performance is committed to creating an inclusive and diverse workplace. We welcome applications from people of all backgrounds and are committed to ensuring our recruitment process is fair and accessible. If you require any reasonable adjustments during the recruitment process, please let us know. Applicants must have the right to work in the UK.
