KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
- Actively promote a positive and collaborative workplace culture that supports the Charity's purpose of Making Life Better and i-care values to increase morale, productivity and performance.
- Horticultural operations; sowing seeds, potting up and nurturing plug and other plants.
- Preparing baskets and planters for summer bed plant displays to a set plan.
- Moving plants / planters etc. within works areas.
- Watering / feeding as required.
- Working within very tight timescales, to ensure baskets / planters are ready on time, and of the appropriate standard.
- Ensuring work areas are maintained in a clean / tidy manner.
- Use of gardening tools and equipment.
- Cleaning duties including staff and visitor toilets.
- At times working with and supporting adults with learning difficulties.
- Work off site in locations in and around Inverness.
- Work safely and in accordance with HLH policy and Health and Safety legislation.
- Undertake training in any aspect of facility procedures as required.
- You may be required to work outside during bad weather.
- Deliver a high standard of customer service and maintain company dress code and standard.
- Liaise with all staff on the day-to-day operation of the facility.
- Bring to the attention of the manager any improvements that might increase the effectiveness or efficiency of the facility.
- Support the activities of all aspects of Inverness Botanic Gardens & café.
- Pursue continuous professional development and contribute to the continuous improvement of Inverness Botanic Gardens and High Life Highland as a whole.
- Attend and undertake any training online or in person.
- Aim to reduce wastage and uphold our environmental values of being as sustainable as possible in all tasks.
- Assist and support other areas of High Life Highland with projects, training or in the event of holidays or sickness working cross-functionally across the Inverness Botanic Gardens team.
- Undertake all tasks in accordance with High Life Highland policies and procedures, including General Data Protection Regulations, health and safety procedures, relevant checks, reporting any concerns to management to ensure corrective action is taken.
