KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Actively promote a positive and collaborative workplace culture that supports the Charity's purpose of Making Life Better and i-care values to increase morale, productivity, and performance.
  • Prepare ingredients and assist with presentation to a high standard as detailed on the menus and as directed by the senior chefs.
  • Create menu items as directed by senior chefs.
  • Manage food costs and avoid wastage by making careful choices on food portions and perishability, liaising with the Sous Chef.
  • Ensure deliveries are correctly accepted, secured, and stored to a high standard as directed, highlighting low stock to the senior chefs.
  • Keep training and all other records up to date and accurate.
  • Pursue action points arising from reviews or performance appraisals.
  • Carry out all activities safely, following health and safety procedures and processes, in accordance with Highlife Highland policies and current legislation.
  • Ensure activities comply with Food Safety Standards, specifically using the CookSafe model, and report any issues to the senior chefs.
  • Respond to feedback professionally and positively, with a solution-focused approach, with all staff, including the front of house team.
  • Contribute suggestions for creative menus that are appropriate and appealing to clients and markets, using flair and practicality.
  • Maintain all catering facilities to a high standard of cleanliness and order, reporting issues to the senior chefs.
  • Undertake tasks in accordance with High Life Highland policies and procedures, including health and safety and relevant legislation, reporting concerns to management for corrective action.
  • Pursue continuous professional development and contribute to the ongoing improvement of the Inverness Castle Experience.
  • Attend and undertake any required training, online or in person.
  • Work on a rota basis, including evenings, weekends, and bank holidays, and provide advance notice for leave requests.
  • Aim to reduce wastage and uphold sustainability and environmental values in all tasks.
  • Assist and support other areas of High Life Highland with projects, training, or during holidays or sickness.
  • Ensure all tasks are performed in accordance with policies, including GDPR, health and safety, and reporting concerns to management for corrective action.
