I am currently recruiting for a leading Lloyd's Syndicate who are seeking a Property Underwriter to join their London Market team.
My client is looking for someone with around 5 years Property Underwriting experience, and ideally someone who has recently been promoted from Assistant Underwriter into an Underwriter role. This role will primarily focus on UK business, writing new and existing business and they need someone with strong technical knowledge in the Property space and someone who has good broker-facing skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Underwrite new and renewal property risks within delegated authority, ensuring alignment with underwriting strategy and business objectives.
- Negotiate terms, conditions, and pricing with brokers to secure profitable new business.
- Ensure contract certainty and policy documentation are issued in line with regulatory and internal standards.
- Act as a referral point for junior underwriters, providing guidance and support on underwriting decisions.
- Collaborate with internal teams (claims, finance, credit control) to ensure efficient onboarding and servicing of new accounts.
- Monitor portfolio performance, contributing to MI reporting and supporting portfolio reviews.
- Maintain accurate and timely data entry across underwriting systems to support exposure management and reporting accuracy.
- Build and maintain strong broker and client relationships to support business growth and market visibility.
- Stay informed on market trends, regulatory changes, and competitor activity to inform underwriting decisions.
- Participate in underwriting audits, governance forums, and projects to support continuous improvement.
