A leading London Market insurer is seeking an interim Financial Controller to support their Financial Accounting & Reporting function. Reporting directly to the CFO, this is a high-profile role with responsibility for statutory, regulatory, management and group reporting, while driving financial control, governance and continuous improvement across the finance function.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the monthly close and reporting cycle, including:
    • Preparation and review of journal entries
    • Production and review of monthly management accounts
    • Preparation of monthly management accounts commentary, including analysis of key movements and variances
    • Insurance and reinsurance accounting, including booking and review of underwriting transactions
    • Data quality reviews during the monthly close process
    • In preparation for interim and year-end external audits
    • Assistance with the interim and year-end audit process, including responding to audit queries and preparing supporting documentation
    • Preparation of accounting returns and quarterly reporting to Head Office under IFRS 17
    • Support Head Office reporting requirements and ad hoc financial analysis requests
    • Participation in finance transformation projects, including process improvement, systems development, and implementation of new PAS.
    • Work collaboratively with stakeholders across Finance, Actuarial, Operations and IT to support reporting and transformation objectives

Qualification and experience

  • Qualified ACA or ACCA (ACA preferred)
  • Insurance experience (essential)
  • London Market experience (desirable)
  • Knowledge of IFRS 17 (desirable)
  • Experience in adding to a robust control environment
