Salary: Β£34,000 to Β£36,500

Working Hours: Full time, 37 hours per week

We are recruiting a Payroll Supervisor to deliver an efficient and effective in-house payroll operation, and to support the ongoing development of systems for a key employer in the Solihull area.

Duties:

  • Lead the day to day payroll operation, ensuring accuracy, compliance and delivery to all internal and external deadlines.
  • Act as Payroll System Administrator, maintaining system integrity and optimising functionality.
  • Ensure PAYE, statutory payments, pensions and all HMRC requirements are correctly implemented and kept up to date with current and future legislation.
  • Maintain and regularly review payroll procedures to ensure alignment with systems, Financial Regulations, audit standards and external developments.
  • Manage month end payroll processes, including the timely and accurate production of third party payments.
  • Process and maintain accurate records for temporary payments, including pay claims, registers and expenses across all staff groups.
  • Collaborate closely with HR and Finance colleagues to establish and maintain robust financial controls and ensure audit compliance.
  • Liaise effectively with internal and external auditors, providing accurate payroll data and assurance as required.
  • Provide high quality, customer focused payroll support, responding promptly to internal and external enquiries, including ad hoc payroll and pension queries.
  • Line manage payroll staff, coordinating workloads and supporting ongoing professional development and performance.
  • Produce payroll related information and returns as required, including National Statistics submissions and financial references.

Skills & Experience:

  • A strong understanding of payroll practices.
  • Experience of supervising staff.
  • Excellent IT, data and analytical skills are also essential.
  • Ideally hold a payroll related qualification.
  • A knowledge of occupational pensions is desirable.
