We are looking for an experienced and motivated Careers and World of Work Manager to lead and develop a high-quality careers, employability, and progression service within a further education setting. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about supporting students and apprentices to make informed decisions about their education, training, and future careers.
You will manage and coordinate the Careers and World of Work provision and the team delivering the service, ensuring learners receive impartial, high-quality advice and guidance that supports their work readiness and progression into employment, higher education, or further training.
Responsibilities
- Lead the delivery of high-quality, impartial careers advice and guidance for current and prospective students and apprentices.
- Manage and motivate the Careers and World of Work team to deliver a professional, customer-focused service.
- Ensure the service meets the needs of a diverse range of learners through drop-in sessions, events, digital channels, and targeted interventions.
- Oversee work experience and placement activity, ensuring high-quality opportunities are available for students on Study Programmes.
- Contribute to the ongoing development of the Careers Programme.
- Ensure compliance with relevant frameworks and standards, including the Gatsby Benchmarks, Matrix Standard, and Institute of Career Guidance Code of Ethics.
- Lead operational delivery of projects supporting progression to higher education, including widening participation initiatives.
- Work collaboratively with curriculum teams, student services, and external partners to support learner progression and outcomes.
- Represent the service at open events, enrolment sessions, careers fairs, and promotional activities.
- Monitor and review policies, procedures, and documentation to ensure compliance with current guidance and legislation.
- Manage the service budget and approve expenditure in line with financial regulations.
- Develop and monitor quality improvement systems to ensure consistently high service standards.
- Oversee data recording, monitoring, and reporting using college systems.
- Produce internal and external reports, including submissions to senior leadership and external bodies.
- Monitor health and safety processes related to work experience and report incidents as required.
Skills and Experience
- Proven experience managing careers, employability, or student services provision.
- Strong leadership and people management skills.
- In-depth knowledge of CEIAG frameworks, including Gatsby Benchmarks and Matrix Standard.
- Experience working with a diverse range of learners and stakeholders.
- Excellent communication, organisational, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Confidence managing budgets, data, and quality assurance processes.
- Commitment to safeguarding, equality, and student wellbeing.
This role is permanent, all year-round. Appointment is subject to satisfactory pre-employment checks, including an Enhanced DBS check, which is renewed in line with safeguarding requirements.
