Higgins Mechanical is a growing engineering business delivering projects across a wide range of scales and sectors. As part of our continued expansion, we are looking to appoint an experienced and driven Commercial Manager to take on a strategic leadership role within the business. This is a key position where you will oversee multiple projects, manage a small commercial team, and play a pivotal role in shaping and growing the commercial function across the entire business unit.
The Role
- You will be responsible for leading and developing our commercial operations, ensuring robust financial control, consistency in reporting, and enhanced commercial awareness across all projects.
- This role will also incorporate the full scope of responsibilities currently delivered by our Commercial team, while building a stronger and more scalable commercial structure for the future.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic oversight of multiple live projects from a commercial perspective
- Full P&L responsibility across projects and business unit performance
- Review, negotiation, and management of commercial contracts
- Development and management of cost plans and financial forecasts
- Leading project reviews, ensuring performance, profitability, and risk management
- Driving improvements in commercial processes, systems, and governance
- Implementing consistent financial systems to provide clear visibility across all projects
- Enhancing commercial awareness across operational teams
- Managing, mentoring, and developing junior Quantity Surveyors
- Establishing a culture of continuous improvement within the commercial team
About You

- Familiarity with Sage 50 Projects
- Experience implementing or improving commercial systems across multiple projects
Salary & Package
Salary is dependent on experience and will be negotiable based on sector exposure, capability, and the value you bring to the business. Expected salary range: £65,000 – £75,000+, with flexibility to agree a tailored package for the right candidate. The package will also include additional company benefits, which can be discussed at interview.
