Job Title: BMS / Smart Building Systems Commissioning Manager Location: Central London Salary: £80,000 - £85,000 Tired of advising on smart buildings you never get to see through? Most smart buildings specialists either write the spec and walk away, or deliver someone else's design. In this role, you'd do the whole job: scope the packages, tender them, manage the specialist contractors, and be on site when the systems go live. You'd also build the capability from scratch, so the strategy, the standards and the way of working would be yours. Is this you? You're already senior: a smart buildings consultant, systems architect or lead engineer from a consultancy, integrator or specialist contractor. You know how multi-protocol integration goes wrong, and you'd rather catch it at procurement than at commissioning. You work best with the keys to the building, not a manager checking in every day. If that's you, keep reading. What you'll be doing * Owning the smart buildings strategy and package delivery across commercial projects (offices and hotels) * Scoping and tendering specialist smart building packages for external trade contractors * Acting as the lead technical contact for clients, MEP consultants and specialist contractors * Overseeing integration between traditional BMS and modern platforms: IoT, APIs, dashboards, cloud and remote monitoring * Reviewing equipment specifications before procurement, so protocol clashes never turn into costly interface work * Visiting site to commission, validate performance and troubleshoot integration issues * Championing best practice and predictive maintenance workflows across the business Where you'll be doing it A fast-growing UK building services contractor with in-house design, BIM and offsite capability, delivering commercial and hospitality projects across London. Turnover has grown by around a third in the last year and profit has more than doubled. Now the business is building a dedicated smart buildings function, and you'd be the person who defines it. What you'll need * Senior-level experience in a smart buildings consultancy, systems integrator or specialist contractor * Strong working knowledge of smart building protocols, IoT hardware and software integration, and legacy BMS interfaces * Experience with energy and predictive maintenance platforms * The independence to build a new division and advise senior leadership directly What you'll get £80,000 – £85,000 depending on experience, plus a 30-day holiday allowance rising with service, cash health plan, death in service at 4x salary, enhanced family leave, paid professional subscriptions, flexible working opportunities and training and development support
