Hidden Gem Care is a new Children’s home venture based in Church Gresley, South Derbyshire. We are an ambitious group of directors seeking an experienced, passionate and enthusiastic Responsible Individual to oversee our 3 bedroom children’s home in South Derbyshire. The home will offer placements to young people between the ages of 8 to 17 years who have emotional and behavioural difficulties. You will be responsible for ensuring a nurturing, therapeutic and child‑central approach is adopted by the home.
Responsibilities
- Ensuring full compliance with OFSTED regulations and national care standards.
- Oversight and accountability with Children’s Home Regulations and other legislations/framework relevant to residential children’s care.
- Ensuring Hidden Gem secure a successful completion of the SC2/Ofsted application.
- Acting as the designated safeguarding lead and supporting Registered Managers and other senior staff with safeguarding concerns, including notifying Ofsted and relevant professionals of serious incidents, liaising with LADO or other external safeguarding leads, conducting internal investigations and implementing safety plans.
- Setting high standards of practice and challenging decisions to strengthen the home’s credibility and build a strong reputation.
- Operating in line with Safer recruitment policies, overseeing staffing and resources, and ensuring financial sustainability for a safe and effective home.
Experience & Qualifications
- Experience of registering and compliance within a new children’s home.
- A Level 5 diploma in Leadership and Management (Residential Childcare).
- Excellent communication with all stakeholders – children, families, staff and directors.
- Robust knowledge of OFSTED requirements.
- Understanding of children’s care/education plans and ongoing review.
- Strong ability to write reports for relevant referrals.
- UK driving licence for travel.
Pay and Benefits
