As a key contributor of the Customer Facing Tools team, you will be responsible for the development and maintenance of our enterprise-scale device management solution. An ideal candidate should have an open mindset, flexibility, focus on quality and the ability to switch projects. Working in a multinational environment, communicative English in speaking and writing is a must.
Essential DutiesYou will be part of our Customer Facing Tools team under the PACS business area, working on products including smart cards, mobile access, identifiers, software, services and controllers for physical access control. You will be responsible for the development and maintenance of an enterprise-scale software solution for the management of physical access devices such as RFID and biometric readers. This involves integrating with complex software packages and cloud services. You are aware of, and continuously learn, industry best practices and trends. You should be self-reliant and resourceful, able to solve problems independently. Being that your work will be multinational, communicative English in speaking and writing is required. This hybrid opportunity is based in Cardiff. Our current hybrid working model allows 2 remote days per week.
Essential Qualifications- 7+ years’ experience in professional Software Development.
- You should be able to work with minimal supervision.
- Self-reliance and resourcefulness in problem solving.
- Possess a bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field (engineering, computer science) or an equivalent demonstrative experience.
- Relational database design.
- Unit testing and integration testing experience.
- Experience in developing networked applications is desirable.
- Experience in writing integrations to devices over any of the following would also be desirable: MQTT, Serial, Bluetooth, NFC, UDP, TCP/IP.
- Experience in building REST APIs and WebSocket communication is desirable.
- Experience with gRPC is desirable.
- Experience with Hibernate ORM is desirable.
- Experience with Secure Software Development Lifecycle (SSDL) is desirable.
- Experience writing software applications in Python.
- Knowledge of cryptographic algorithms and security certification.
- Previous experience with RFID technologies / smart cards, e.g. NXP Mifare Desfire.

Travel and fieldwork, including international travel, may be required. Therefore, employees must possess or be able to acquire a valid passport.
