Job Summary: The M&E Clerk of Works (Mechanical and Electrical) is responsible for overseeing and ensuring the quality, standards, and compliance of mechanical and electrical installations on a construction project. The role involves site inspection, monitoring contractor performance, verifying material specifications, ensuring adherence to health and safety protocols, and providing detailed reports on site conditions and progress. Key Responsibilities: Site Inspections and Monitoring: Conduct regular inspections of M&E installations, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and other relevant systems, to ensure compliance with design and specification requirements. Identify and record any deviations from approved designs and specifications, and report issues promptly to the Project Manager. Review contractor\’s work methods and practices to ensure that they meet the required standards and specifications. Quality Control and Compliance: Verify that all materials and installations meet specified quality standards and industry regulations. Ensure that all M&E works comply with building codes, environmental regulations, and health and safety standards. Check documentation related to the materials used and verify that it matches project specifications. Coordination with Project Teams: Work closely with the project management team, design engineers, and site supervisors to ensure seamless communication and coordination. Attend regular site meetings to discuss progress, challenges, and any deviations in the M&E works. Liaise with contractors and subcontractors, ensuring they understand project requirements and expectations. Documentation and Reporting: Maintain detailed records of inspections, including site reports, daily logs, and photographic evidence, to document compliance or note deviations. Prepare and submit regular progress reports on M&E works, highlighting any issues or potential delays. Provide technical input for resolving on-site problems and consult with design engineers on recommended solutions. Health and Safety Compliance: Ensure all M&E works adhere to site-specific health and safety protocols. Monitor contractors to confirm that they maintain a safe working environment and use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE). Report any safety concerns to site management and ensure corrective actions are taken promptly. Qualifications and Experience: Education: Diploma or degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, Building Services, or a related field. Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience in construction, with specific knowledge of M&E systems in large-scale projects. Certifications: Relevant certifications (ICWCI, MCIOB, IMechE or equivalents preferred however not essential and other accreditations accepted.) Skills: Strong understanding of M&E systems, installation standards, and building codes. Excellent attention to detail and the ability to identify non-conformances in installations. Good communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with contractors, clients, and project teams. Proficient in Microsoft Office and report-writing skills. Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to analyze and troubleshoot issues related to M&E systems and installations.
