Are you a compassionate and motivated care professional ready to take the next step in your career? We have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Care Assistant to grow into a leadership role at Overton House, our specialist dementia care home in Cottingham. As part of The HICA Group, you'll lead by example, supporting your team, ensuring high standards of care, and making a real difference in the lives of our residents.
Pay & Hours:
- £14.82 per hour
- 33 hours per week
- Rota includes weekends (every other weekend)
The Role:
As a Team Leader, you'll oversee the care team and ensure the safe and effective delivery of care, support, and medication during your shift. With guidance from the Registered Manager and Deputy Manager, and support from our experienced team, you'll have the opportunity to get to know our residents and their needs.
Key responsibilities include:
- Coaching and mentoring new and existing staff
- Reviewing and updating care plans
- Preparing, administering, storing, and recording medication
- Providing personal care (e.g. washing, dressing, oral hygiene)
- Promoting independence and enhancing residents' quality of life
- Maintaining professional relationships with residents' families
- Reporting any safeguarding concerns promptly and appropriately
About You:
We're looking for someone who is:
- Experienced in care, ideally with NVQ Level 2 in Health & Social Care - although not essential.
- Medication trained
- Confident in supervising others and managing workloads
- A strong team player with a positive, proactive attitude.

Overton House is a specialist dementia care home accommodating up to 40 residents, nestled in the vibrant town of Cottingham in West Hull. Our home features a variety of amenities designed to enhance the living experience, including a kitchen for residents and their families to enjoy, a hair salon, and a dedicated Activities Coordinator. Residents can also take pleasure in our three beautiful gardens, where they can grow vegetables and flowers.
