As a Payroll Specialist within our Managed Services Bureau, you will be responsible for running multiple payrolls for our clients, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely processing. You will work in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines, requiring exceptional attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities. You will also play a key role in optimising payroll processes and contributing to the setup and development of our Managed Services Bureau.

  • Run multiple payrolls seamlessly, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely submission under tight deadlines.
  • Optimise payroll processes and workflows, identifying efficiencies and contributing to the development of the Managed Services Bureau.
  • Resolve complex payroll issues by applying in-depth knowledge of UK payroll regulations, tax reconciliations, and compliance requirements.

Job Requirements

  • Experience in a Managed Services or Bureau environment.
  • Demonstrable UK payroll experience in a fast-paced, multi-client environment.
  • Strong knowledge of UK payroll legislation, HMRC regulations, and statutory payments.
  • Experience handling high-volume payroll processing with accuracy and efficiency.
  • Proven ability to optimise payroll processes and drive improvements.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify payroll discrepancies and anomalies.
  • Excellent communication skills to explain complex payroll matters clearly to clients and internal teams.
  • Experience using payroll software (bonus points for HiBob Payroll, Sage, Xero, or other cloud-based solutions).

Job Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary contact for payroll processing and issue resolution within the Managed Services Bureau.
  • Ensure payroll accuracy through thorough reviews and compliance with statutory requirements.
  • Handle high-volume payrolls, maintaining efficiency and quality under tight deadlines.
  • Proactively identify process improvements to enhance the bureau's payroll service delivery.
  • Support new client onboarding, ensuring data accuracy for retrospective and parallel runs.
  • Assist in training and mentoring junior payroll team members.
  • Effectively escalate complex issues while maintaining clear communication with clients.
