We are looking to recruit experienced, committed, knowledgeable and highly motivated individuals to undertake the role of Hibernian Next Gen Coach within the Hibernian Girls Performance Academy. This position is fundamental to the vision of the football club. The successful candidate will have a proven record of working successfully within performance sport and particularly in a Youth Development environment.
Based at the Hibernian Training Centre, Meadowbank Sport Centre and reporting in the first instance to the appropriate coaching lead: Head of Girls Performance Academy, you will primarily be responsible for delivering technical and tactical coaching sessions and overseeing matches to players in the Hibernian Girls Academy, primarily from the age of 10 to 16.
Key ResponsibilitiesBased at the Hibernian Training Centre, the post-holder will demonstrate:
- Proven coaching experience in youth development, particularly within a Next Gen Academy.
- Proven ability to construct, deliver, and review coaching sessions for elite players of all ages.
- Ability to show flexibility and innovation in coaching methods to deliver individual improvement.
- Lead on the setting of goals & objectives with players & parents and subsequent quarterly review assessments including formal sessions with players and parents.
- Contribute to the discussions for retention or release of players.
- Plan and prepare ahead, the drills and learning outcomes for each session(s) to achieve the learning objectives set for the player for each session, training block and game.
- Work within an SFA accredited Performance School programme as and when available and necessary.
- Plan and prepare ahead the approach, tactics and learning outcomes for each match day game, lead the squad on match day and thereafter subsequently review and appraise achievement with player(s) (individually and collectively), coaches and record.
- Fully utilise the techniques of Performance Analysis in the development of individual players and team game plans pre/post-match day to achieve learning objectives including doing own performance analysis of individuals and squads in training and/or games as necessary.
- Lead & deliver coaching sessions for an Academy age group in line with the Technical Plan and drill/session plan as a NEXT GEN ACADEMY TEAM member.
- Contribute to the ongoing review and continuous improvement of the Academy objectives, curriculum and technical plan based on assessment of achievement of objectives via training & match play.
- Embodiment and leadership by example to staff and players of the Academy’s Vision and Philosophy for the development of players.
- Facilitate the evaluation of any PROSPECTS within the agreed evaluation process.
- Work closely with the Sports Science & Medicine and Player Care Department to ensure that a player's technical and physical development and wellbeing are given equal accord in the holistic development of the player.
- Assist other coaches/coaching teams as necessary within other age groups and/or squads where required including the Development/Transition squad.
- Participate in the Academy’s Staff Performance Appraisal system including noting the ongoing needs of your CPD.
- Adhere and comply at all times with the obligations placed on the Academy by its participation in the SFA Performance Academy programme.
- Adhere to the Academy’s Code of Conduct for coaches and all other applicable Club policies, including Health & Safety, Child Protection and Social Media, at all times.
- Ensure the players are aware of what is expected of them at all times.
Qualifications (Essential):
- UEFA B Licence or UEFA Elite Youth B License.
- Scottish FA Advanced Children’s License.
- Valid PVG Check (this is an essential requirement & will be part of the ‘new starter’ process).
Qualifications (Desirable):
- Additional Relevant Coaching Qualifications - UEFA A License or UEFA Elite Youth A license.
- Additional Qualification in sport related discipline.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience (Essential):
- Experience of working in a role within a professional football club coaching team at Academy or Development level.
- Highly skilled in communicating.
- Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to adapt to the environment to motivate behavioural change and augment performance.
Technology (Essential):
- Experience using coaching technology: mainly ASC Cloud.
- Experience using Apple and Windows hardware/software.
- Competency using Microsoft Office especially Outlook, Word & PowerPoint.
