Contracts Manager – Highways Industry – Road Marking

Location: Predominantly East & West Sussex (Depot at Littlehampton with occasional visits to our Head Office in Canterbury.)

Hours: 40 hours (08.00-16.00 Monday to Friday). Hybrid working will be considered for this role.

The Opportunity

We’re looking for a highly motivated and experienced Contracts Manager to take the lead on our road markings contracts across East and West Sussex. This is a key role where you’ll be responsible for coordinating teams, managing client relationships, and ensuring that all works are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards. The ideal candidate will have a strong track record in the highways sector and an excellent working knowledge of NEC4 contracts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and coordinate operatives, sub‑contractors, and suppliers to ensure smooth delivery of projects to agreed standards.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, contractors, and internal teams, ensuring clear and consistent communication throughout.
  • Manage time, cost, and quality controls to keep each contract on track and within budget.
  • Maintain contract documentation using SharePoint and other content management systems.
  • Analyse data and produce reports to support informed decision‑making.
  • Utilise schedule of rates to produce final measure invoicing and cost reports where required.
  • Ensure compliance with all HSE regulations and company safety procedures across all sites.

About You

  • Proven experience in a supervisory or management role within the highways or civil engineering sector.
  • Previous experience working with NEC4 contracts.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate teams.
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Confident communicator with the ability to build positive relationships at all levels.
  • Flexible and adaptable approach, with the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Customer‑focused and commercially aware.
  • Full UK driving licence.
