The Assistant Front of House Manager supports the Front of House Manager in the daily operation of the hotel reception and guest services. You will act as Duty Manager when required, ensuring smooth service delivery, exceptional guest experience, and effective team coordination. You will lead by example, maintain high operational standards, and take ownership of resolving issues efficiently.
Responsibilities
- Leadership & Duty Management
- Support the Front of House Manager in all operational tasks and deputise when required.
- Act as Duty Manager during assigned shifts, handling operational issues and decision-making.
- Lead by example, setting high standards of professionalism and service.
- Build positive relationships with guests and colleagues.
- Manage time effectively and ensure completion of daily tasks.
- Guest Experience & Service Delivery
- Welcome all guests warmly and provide assistance on arrival.
- Deliver a personalised service to meet individual guest needs.
- Maintain consistently high levels of customer service.
- Handle guest complaints professionally and efficiently in coordination with the Front of House Manager.
- Front Desk Operations
- Oversee and participate in check-in, check-out, invoicing, reservations, accommodation queries, and concierge services.
- Respond to guest enquiries and requests in person, by phone, and via email.
- Ensure accurate use of hotel systems and procedures.
- Systems & Training
- Develop strong knowledge of all hotel systems.
- Demonstrate strong working knowledge of Opera PMS.
- Support training and development of front of house team members.
- Communication & Coordination
- Communicate effectively with senior management and department heads.
- Maintain strong working relationships with Housekeeping, Food & Beverage, and other departments.
- Health, Safety & Security
- Ensure compliance with Health & Safety regulations (RIDDOR, COSHH, Fire Safety, Manual Handling, Food Hygiene).
- Assist with front desk security including key control, guest belongings, and property safety.
- Administration & Finance
- Complete reception administration, banking, and reporting accurately.
- Follow up on outstanding tasks and ensure daily administrative duties are completed.
- Housekeeping of Work Areas & Equipment
- Keep reception areas and workspaces clean, tidy, and welcoming.
- Ensure all departmental equipment is clean, well maintained, and faults are reported promptly.
