We are looking to appoint a Graduate or Apprentice Rural Surveyor to join our busy and expanding team. Ideally based in our Carlisle (North Lakes) office we are able to offer flexibility with regard to our other locations in Durham and Kendal and flexible or hybrid working is encouraged.

The successful applicant will be involved in a variety of tasks including:

  • Assisting with the management of Rural Estates, Land and Residential Property portfolios
  • Valuations and AMC advice
  • Sales and lettings of agricultural, commercial, and residential property
  • Countryside Stewardship and Environmental Land Management grant advice
  • Farm business management
  • Landlord and Tenant
  • Advice on rural planning matters and diversification schemes
  • Assisting clients with compensation claims and negotiations
  • Renewables, biodiversity, related grants and legislative requirements
  • General rural practice advice

We are looking for a driven, well organised individual that can demonstrate excellent time management skills with an ability to manage a broad portfolio of work. You will have the ability to work as part of a team and be confident in undertaking site work alone.

If not already achieved the successful applicant will be encouraged, and supported, in their application to become a fully qualified member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) and the Central Association of Agricultural Valuers (CAAV). For apprentice applicants, with agreement, you will undertake a five-year training programme (Level 6 Apprenticeship), which includes a part time undergraduate degree (5 years) and an APC training programme (2 years) leading to become a Chartered Surveyor with an MRICS qualification. On the job training is provided to ensure all the required knowledge and experience is obtained throughout the apprenticeship to qualify successfully.

You should demonstrate a strong interest in the rural environment and be adept at and enjoy engaging, influencing and communicating with clients, professionals and the rural community. A full UK driving licence is essential.
