We’re seeking an experienced and motivated Workshop Controller to take a leading role within our busy Birmingham site. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who excels at coordinating workloads, supporting technicians, and ensuring our workshop operates at the highest standards of efficiency and customer service. Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 7.00 am to 4.30 pm, i.e. 45 hours per week, 30 minutes lunch break (unpaid).
Salary: Negotiable, will be discussed at interview stage.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the daily operations of the workshop.
- Support the team to stay motivated and engaged.
- Provide clear explanations of work required, costs, and timescales.
- Keep customers updated on progress and communicate any additional work required.
- Handle customer queries and complaints promptly and effectively.
- Prepare accurate job cards and ensure technicians have all required information.
- Monitor job progress and ensure timely completion to meet customer expectations.
- Liaise with the workshop team to schedule workload efficiently.
- Check completed work, raising any issues with the Service Manager.
- Assist with ensuring key steps have been taken to assist with achieving KPIs.
- Ensure vehicles are ready in time for MOTs.
Ideally, we are looking for:
- Strong technical knowledge within an automotive or mechanical workshop environment.
- Excellent diagnostic and problem‑solving skills.
- Effective leadership and communication abilities.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks.
- Ability to work well under pressure in a fast‑paced environment.
- Commitment to high standards of service and workmanship.
- Experience in a workshop foreman, workshop controller, or senior technician role (preferred).
- Full UK driving licence (Desirable).
