Are you passionate about vehicles and have an eye for detail? Volvo Trucks is offering an exciting opportunity to join our team as an Apprentice Paint Spray Technician. What you will do:
Working closely with Panel Technicians, Vehicle Damage Paint Technicians (also known as paint sprayers or refinishers) are the ones who put the final touches on collision repairs and have the ability to make vehicles look just as they did when they left the showroom.
You will be trained to complete every aspect of painting a vehicle from paint preparation through to paint application and polishing.
- Preparing paint spraying equipment
- Preparing the bodywork of the vehicle
- Mixing paint by eye or using computer technology to ensure the best colour match
- Applying several coats to the car, including primers, colours and protective finishes
- Solving paint application problems; defects, cause and cures
- Maintaining and cleaning equipment
- Storing paints in the correct conditions
- Qualification gained: Level 3 Vehicle Damage Paint Technician Apprenticeship
- Duration: 3 years which includes 3 months End Point Assessment preparation

Training: Training is delivered in the workplace with your mentor and visits with your Remit Development Coach and also through block release at Remits dedicated Automotive Academy in Derby. There are a total of 12 blocks over the 3-year programme. The costs for your hotel, food and travel are met by the employer and there will be no cost to you.
Progression: An apprenticeship is full-time employment, and many employers offer further training and progression routes. After achieving your level 3, you can go on to specialise in vinyl wraps and aesthetic paint work, or on to management roles such as Workshop Controller or Shift Supervisor.
