The Patent Support Trainer will play a critical role in developing the capability and confidence of colleagues across the firm by delivering high‑quality, accurate and engaging training on all aspects of the Patent process, formalities and administration. This role is responsible for identifying training needs through traceable, data‑driven methods; designing, preparing and delivering training programmes; and ensuring training leads to measurable improvements in knowledge, productivity and compliance.
Working within the Patent Process Implementation and Integration Team, alongside Professional Standards and other operational teams across all offices, the IP Trainer will support the consistent adoption of company standard procedures. The role will champion best practices, support process changes, maintain comprehensive training documentation, and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement within the Patent Support Service.

Training Needs Analysis
- Uses structured, data‑driven methods to identify skill gaps and prioritise training needs across the Patent support function.
- Works with stakeholders to validate findings and ensure training aligns with business goals, process updates, and regulatory requirements.
Training Design & Delivery
- Designs high‑quality training materials and delivers engaging sessions in person and virtually for colleagues at all levels.
- Tailors content for different experience levels and regional requirements, with flexibility to travel when needed.
- Conducts follow‑ups and tracks measurable outcomes to assess adoption, understanding, and competency.
- Provides insights and feedback to support continuous improvement and risk mitigation.
Documentation & Standards
- Maintains accurate, up‑to‑date training documentation that meets firmwide procedures and regulatory standards.
- Collaborates with Professional Standards to incorporate new risks, regulatory updates, and quality requirements.
Stakeholder Collaboration
- Works with operational teams, Professional Standards, IT, and Process Teams to support process and system changes.
- Builds strong relationships across offices and manages the process for tracking Continued Professional Competence (CPC).
