Role Description: We are seeking an experienced Human Resources Manager to join our team and support our busy butchering and food production business, which employs approximately 240 people. This is a hands-on operational HR role focused on employee relations, policy management, compliance and supporting managers with day-to-day people matters. This position is centred on ensuring HR processes are delivered effectively and in line with employment legislation. This role is ideal for a practical HR professional who enjoys working closely with operational teams and ensuring a compliant, fair, and well-managed workplace.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage employee relations matters, including disciplinary, grievance, absence, and performance management cases.
  • Provide practical HR advice and support to managers and employees.
  • Ensure compliance with employment law, food industry regulations where applicable, and company policies.
  • Maintain and update HR policies, procedures, and employee records.
  • Support recruitment, onboarding, and probation processes.
  • Monitor absence and attendance management processes.
  • Liaise with payroll to ensure employee information is accurate and up to date.
  • Prepare HR reports and maintain HR systems and documentation.
  • Support audits and ensure HR records meet requirements.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • Previous experience in an HR Manager or Senior HR Advisor role.
  • Strong knowledge of employment law and HR best practice.
  • Proven experience handling employee relations cases independently.
  • Excellent organisational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced operational environment.
  • Experience within manufacturing, food production, FMCG, or similar environments would be advantageous.
  • CIPD Level 5 qualified or equivalent HR experience.
  • CIPD Level 7 desirable but not essential.
