HG Law LLP is seeking a part-qualified or just qualified European Patent Attorney with a mechanical engineering (or other engineering) background to join our London team. This role is for someone who's rolled their sleeves up, metaphorically and literally too. We want someone who's genuinely curious about how things are built. Ideally, you have at some point taken something apart and (mostly) put it back together again. We are looking for someone who enjoys working with inventors to protect innovative ideas.
Applicants should have the ability to commute regularly to the London office.
Responsibilities:
- Draft and prosecute UK and European patent applications across a broad range of mechanical and engineering technologies.
- Work closely with inventors, engineers, internal counsel and clients to understand inventions and develop patent strategies.
- Advise clients on patentability, infringement, and portfolio strategy.
- Collaborate with colleagues to maintain high standards of technical accuracy and drafting quality.
Job Qualifications:
- Part-qualified to qualified UK and/or European Patent Attorney. Candidates still working toward qualification are encouraged to apply.
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred; other engineering disciplines will also be considered.
- Strong patent drafting and prosecution experience required.
- Demonstrated interest in mechanical technologies and how things work in practical applications.
- Strong academic credentials.
- Strong technical writing skills with the ability to draft clear, concise, and accurate patent applications.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
