We are looking for a Payroll Officer to join our People team (on a six month fixed term contract) and play a key role in ensuring accurate and efficient payroll delivery for around 2,600 employees and workers. Reporting to the Payroll Manager, you will be responsible for processing weekly and monthly payroll, maintaining payroll systems, and ensuring compliance with relevant legislation including PAYE, NIC, pensions and statutory payments. This role requires excellent attention to detail, strong communication skills and the ability to manage confidential information with professionalism.
Key Responsibilities- Process weekly and monthly payroll accurately for approximately 2,600 employees
- Manage starters, leavers, statutory payments, overtime, deductions and corrections
- Ensure compliance with PAYE, NIC, pensions and auto-enrolment requirements
- Maintain payroll systems and ensure all employee data is accurate and up to date
- Respond to payroll queries from employees and third parties
- Assist with payroll reporting and maintain up-to-date process documentation
- Experience working within payroll
- Good knowledge of payroll legislation and statutory payments
- Strong IT skills, including Excel, Word and Outlook
- Excellent organisation skills with strong attention to detail
- Able to work independently and as part of a team
- Payroll qualification (or working towards one) is desirable
- Experience in the not-for-profit sector and familiarity with Access payroll systems would be an advantage.
