Job Purpose
Reporting to the Catering Manager, the role of Cook is to plan and prepare a menu of nutritious and high-quality meals, snacks and drinks for customers whilst providing a training and skills development opportunity for Learning Disabled and Autistic adults and young people.
You will comply with all Food Hygiene Regulations, ensuring that kitchen and equipment work areas are cleaned and maintained to a high standard and that stock and budgets are controlled at all times.
You will be required to work on your own initiative, as well as part of a team and possess good relationship management skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with customers.

- To support people to prepare a menu of hot and cold food, snacks, drinks and other café items.
- To prepare a menu’s and ordering of food within set budget parameters using approved suppliers to achieve a high quality of food and presentation at all times.
- To change the menu’s on a regular basis at least seasonally
- To prepare meals for people with additional dietary requirements including diabetics, PKU diets, blended meals and allergies as a minimum.
- To ensure all food orders are requested with ample time while working under an agreed budget
- To ensure all meals are ready in a timely manner
- To oversee the smooth running of the kitchen

- To support and empower people to achieve their goals and ambitions in line with their Vocational Profiles.
- Work closely with colleagues including the Employability Coach to offer outcome based support.
- General
- To attend and participate in staff meetings and attend all mandatory training when required
- To attend supervision and appraisals ensuring that you have prepared for these when required
- To attend any other training when a need has been identified
- To communicate effectively with other staff, relatives and visitors
- To wear appropriate clothing provided for working in the Kitchen
- To keep all records of cleaning work completed after each shift in the appropriate book
- Handle cash and card transactions through the till and reconcile these daily

- Carry out a range of duties and undertake any other duties as specified from time to time in accordance with Hft business requirements
