We are seeking an Assistant Finance Officer to cover maternity leave within the Property Services area of our business. This role is crucial for managing budgets, monitoring expenses, and maintaining general financial tasks to ensure the service understands its finances. You will be part of a dedicated team within a larger council framework, providing essential financial support and insights.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Oversee budgets and perform budget monitoring to ensure financial efficiency.
- Charge for works and provide accurate financial reports to clients.
- Maintain accounts and ensure compliance with statutory requirements and council procedures.
- Assist in the development and improvement of financial systems and audit processes.
- Provide high-quality financial support and audit services within agreed timescales.
- Support team members in the development of the service provided.
- Generate audit reports that accurately reflect the work undertaken, supported by working papers and issued in a timely manner.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- AAT qualified, a graduate in a relevant discipline, or a similar qualification; or demonstrable ability through experience to work at that level.
- Proven experience in a finance function providing financial and management accounting support, audit, or similar services.
- Strong ability in analysing and interpreting financial information.
- Proficient in using computerised financial systems, including spreadsheets and word processing packages.
