Job Description:Could you help our spinal injury client with personal care and all day to day tasks to fulfill his potential and live an independent life?About the RoleWe are looking for a friendly, engaging, and compassionate Support Worker to work with an individual living with a spinal cord injury.This role is about more than meeting clinical needs – it\’s about providing the right support so that the person can live their life to the fullest, every single day. You\’ll assist with personal and clinical care – including bowel care, catheter management, and medication support – while also helping with meal planning, cooking, activities, and emotional wellbeing.Using a trauma-informed approach, you\’ll bring patience, empathy, and understanding, creating an environment of safety, trust, and dignity.Key Responsibilities
- Provide safe and professional personal and clinical care, including:
- Bowel care routines
- Catheter management
- Medication support
- Support with meal planning, preparation, and enjoying good food together.
- Encourage and join in with daily activities, hobbies, and routines that bring purpose and enjoyment.
- Build trust through trauma-informed care principles: safety, respect, collaboration, choice, and empowerment.
- Keep accurate notes and communicate clearly with the individual, their family, and the wider care team.
Warm, friendly, and engaging, with a genuine interest in people.
- Patient and empathetic, with the ability to build meaningful connections.
- Comfortable supporting both day-to-day living and clinical needs (bowel, catheter, meds).
- A good communicator who can listen, reassure, and encourage.
- Experienced in spinal or complex care (desirable, but full training provided).
