Exclusive Role: Underwriter - Property D&F

Lloyd's Syndicate City of London

I am currently partnered exclusively with a Lloyd's Syndicate who are seeking an Underwriter to join their Property D&F team. This role will be Underwriting a variety of Property risks from multiple industries on a Direct and Facultative basis on a worldwide basis, with a particular focus on US business. My client is looking for someone with a solid Property D&F Underwriting background, from a Syndicate environment. Open to an experienced Assistant Underwriter who wants to step up to Underwriter.

Key Responsibilities

  • Underwriting D&F Excess risks, with a particular focus on US business, in line with underwriting guidelines and within authority limits. This includes reviewing new and renewal submissions, completing rating models, producing initial pricing, negotiating with brokers, and managing submissions through the quote-to-bind process.
  • Developing a comprehensive understanding of all pricing models used by the Excess team.
  • Maintaining existing broker relationships and cultivating new ones.
  • Progressing towards operating independently with minimal supervision, while adhering to corporate guidelines and contributing to a collaborative underwriting approach.
  • Supporting the development of underwriting and portfolio strategy in partnership with management, including identifying and pursuing new business opportunities to build sustainable and profitable relationships with clients and brokers.
  • Attending client and broker meetings as required.
  • Conducting risk reviews, including rate monitoring and peer review.
  • Undertaking travel as necessary for client meetings and marketing activities.
  • Producing both ad hoc and scheduled reports.
  • Preparing regulatory reports and ensuring ongoing compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Liaising with the claims team to monitor loss trends.
