I am currently partnered with a London Market Insurer who are seeking an Underwriting to join their growing London Market Casualty division.

This role will be Underwriting Casualty related risks including; Employers Liability, Public & Products Liability from the UK and other multi-national jurisdictions.

My client is looking for an experienced Casualty Underwriter within the London Market, with a focus on new business who can help to build and shape a profitability Liability book.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure the effective delivery of the Liability portfolio strategy and business plans in line with underwriting objectives.
  • Work closely with the Head of Casualty and Underwriting Senior Leadership Team to develop and grow a profitable Liability portfolio.
  • Underwrite new and renewal Liability business within delegated authority, maintaining strong underwriting discipline and delivering profitable outcomes.
  • Review applications and supporting information for risks requiring technical underwriting expertise and sound commercial judgement.
  • Assess risk acceptability in accordance with underwriting guidelines, appetite and delegated authority levels.
  • Recommend appropriate pricing, terms, conditions and coverage enhancements based on detailed technical analysis and consideration of commercial and competitive factors.
  • Develop, manage and strengthen broker relationships to support profitable growth across the UK mid-market and large corporate sectors.
  • Identify and secure new business opportunities while maintaining high levels of service and engagement with existing broker partners.
  • Prepare quotations and respond effectively to enquiries from brokers, internal stakeholders and other business partners, escalating matters where appropriate.
  • Communicate underwriting decisions clearly and professionally, including referral outcomes, underwriting requirements and declinatures where necessary.
  • Analyse the quality, profitability and performance of the Liability portfolio, producing reports and recommendations to support management decision-making.
  • Contribute to the ongoing development of underwriting appetite, products and portfolio strategy through market insight, technical expertise and experience across the mid-market and large corporate sectors.
  • Support the promotion of products and services through the broker community, including attendance at broker meetings, market visits and networking events.
  • Represent the organisation professionally at industry and corporate events, consistently demonstrating its values and expected behaviours.
  • Work collaboratively with the Head of Casualty on complex risks, referrals and strategic initiatives, providing support and deputising where appropriate.
  • Ensure all underwriting activity complies with relevant regulatory, legal and governance requirements, as well as applicable Group policies.
  • Develop and maintain proficiency across all relevant underwriting and business systems.
  • Undertake any additional duties and responsibilities as required.
