A London Market Insurer are looking for a skilled and proactive Insurance Financial Accountant to join their finance team. You will play a key role in ensuring the accurate and timely processing, reconciliation, and control of general ledger for the syndicates. In this role, you will support the Senior Accounting Manager and the wider team, helping maintain robust financial controls while contributing to strategic projects such as system enhancements and unallocated cash reconciliations.
Responsibilities
- Support the team with core ledger responsibilities and review outsourced work to free up capacity for strategic initiatives.
- Contribute to strategic projects impacting Insurance Finance Operations, including finance system improvements and reconciliations.
- Process and reconcile general ledgers accurately and on time.
- Investigate, balance, and clear ledger accounts, maintaining strong financial controls.
- Monitor and maintain control over all insurance finance accounts.
- Liaise with internal departments to ensure timely and accurate financial data for ledger postings.
- Work across functions (operations, claims, underwriting, and finance) to resolve queries effectively.
- Deputise for the Senior Manager, leading day-to-day team activities when required.
- Oversee and support outsourced finance processes.
- Prepare reconciliation schedules and supporting documentation for auditors.
- Assist with the implementation and transition to new general ledger systems.
Qualifications & Experience
- Qualified Accountant (ACA or equivalent) with some post-qualified experience, ideally with exposure to insurance finance operations.
- Strong understanding of general ledger processes and financial controls.
- Experience leading teams is highly desirable.
- Intermediate Excel skills (PivotTables, Lookups).
- Experience with Workday or similar finance systems preferred.
- Competent in data analysis techniques.
- Deliver high-quality results on time.
- Excellent time management and multitasking abilities.
