I am currently partnering with a leading Lloyd's player that is seeking a DA Oversight Manager to join its growing team. This is a highly market-facing role, focused on reviewing how delegated underwriting is written and managed across a range of Managing Agents within the market.

Key Responsibilities

  • Overseeing the compliance of allocated Managing Agents with Lloyd's Principles for Doing Business, with specific focus on their Delegated Authority portfolios. This includes proactively identifying and addressing potential risks, intervening early where required, and escalating issues appropriately.
  • Conducting targeted, risk-based capability assessments, ad hoc assurance activity, and thematic reviews to evaluate delegated authority performance and controls.
  • Promoting a "best in class" approach to Delegated Authority governance and management, supporting continuous improvement across the market.
  • Making sound, proportionate, and risk-based decisions to ensure appropriate outcomes through effective oversight and close collaboration with the wider Lloyd's team.
  • Maintaining and articulating the "Lloyd's view" of the Delegated Authority capability of allocated Managing Agents, contributing into relevant governance forums.
  • Developing strong, open, and transparent relationships with Managing Agents to support effective oversight and the timely exchange of information.
  • Providing focused, risk-based oversight of a small number of highly material MGAs, broker facilities, and structured programme providers.
  • Taking the lead in managing underperforming or high-risk MGAs, with the authority to implement proportionate remedial actions in line with Third-Party Material Issues. This includes applying market expertise and robust risk principles, and escalating significant issues where necessary.
  • Working collaboratively through the Delegated Authority Indicator Framework (DAIF) alongside other Lloyd's review teams and the Delegated Underwriting Performance team to ensure oversight activity is aligned to broader objectives and priorities.
  • Proactively identifying opportunities to improve operational efficiency, including eliminating low-value activity, automating processes, or outsourcing where appropriate.
  • Managing complex market queries relating to the delegated authority model and alternative distribution structures globally, clearly articulating Lloyd's risk appetite and expectations.
  • Supporting Country Managers by enabling effective triage and rejection of MGAs that present local or jurisdictional risks.
  • Acting as UK Country Manager for the review of new MGA applications sponsored by allocated Managing Agents.
  • Contributing to the development of a Delegated Authority Centre of Excellence by leading on the resolution of complex market queries, producing and contributing to thought leadership on key themes, emerging risks, and best practices, maintaining and enhancing Delegated Authority guidance materials, and identifying, sharing, and communicating insights across the Lloyd's market and global network.
