Key Responsibilities
- Underwrite casualty treaty reinsurance business in accordance with established underwriting guidelines, procedures, and delegated authority limits.
- Support the Head of Department in portfolio planning, budgeting, and strategic underwriting initiatives.
- Build and strengthen relationships with clients and brokers through regular engagement, marketing activities, and business travel.
- Monitor emerging risks, market trends, and underwriting developments, recommending actions where appropriate.
- Collaborate with Actuarial teams to ensure thorough technical assessment of risk exposures.
- Contribute to the enhancement of pricing tools and promote their consistent and accurate application.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of underwriting decisions, peer reviews, and records, ensuring compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements.
Performance, Analytics & Governance
- Participate in quarterly portfolio reviews, providing insights on new business opportunities, declined submissions, and market dynamics.
- Assist with retrocession analysis and purchasing activities as required.
- Uphold underwriting discipline and ensure compliance with governance standards and control frameworks.
Aggregate & Exposure Management
- Support the development, implementation, and maintenance of casualty accumulation monitoring processes and controls.
- Partner with Actuarial teams to model and refine realistic catastrophe and aggregation scenarios.
Leadership & Team Development
- Provide guidance, mentoring, and technical support to junior members of the Casualty Treaty team.
- Contribute to training initiatives, research projects, and broader team development activities.
- Identify and escalate significant portfolio, underwriting, or team-related issues to senior management when necessary.
Qualifications
- Significant experience in Casualty Treaty Reinsurance underwriting with a strong track record of technical and commercial performance.
- In-depth understanding of reinsurance markets, underwriting principles, and treaty structures.
- Strong commercial awareness and financial acumen.
- Excellent analytical and numerical skills with a high level of attention to detail.
- Effective communicator with strong written and verbal presentation abilities.
