Our client, a leading global specialist insurer and reinsurer, is seeking an experienced Credit Control Specialist to join their high-performing Operations team in London. This is a pivotal role within the Business Support function, responsible for managing cash flow and debt recovery across UK and European portfolios. You will be instrumental in maintaining financial stability by leveraging relationships, optimizing data quality, and ensuring regulatory compliance.
The Opportunity
In this role, you will act as a key link between Finance, Underwriting, and external Broker partners. You will handle a diverse portfolio, ensuring that aged debt is minimized and premium income collection is maximized. This position offers a blend of hands‐on technical accounting, strategic reporting, and stakeholder management.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the credit control and cash allocation lifecycle, collaborating with local and offshore teams to reduce outstanding debt.
- Produce accurate monthly and quarterly aged debtor reports and overdue premium analysis for Senior Management and Finance.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with Underwriters, Claims teams, and Brokers to resolve complex queries and investigate bad debt potential.
- Conduct root‐cause analysis on payment discrepancies and support internal initiatives to automate and streamline operational workflows.
- Ensure all activities adhere to internal conduct risks and international regulatory standards, including Solvency II.
- Manage unallocated cash, investigate misallocated funds, and oversee the reconciliation of broker statements.
Your Profile
- The ideal candidate will be a proactive problem‐solver with a meticulous eye for detail and a strong background in the London Market or Reinsurance sectors.
- Proven accounting experience within Reinsurance or Insurance (knowledge of both London and European markets is highly desirable).
- Advanced Excel skills and the ability to process and analyze complex data sets efficiently.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Familiarity with XIS / Syndicate processes is a significant advantage.
- Ability to work independently, manage shifting priorities, and provide guidance to wider team functions.
- Strong ability to perform variance analysis and track KPIs/KRIs to drive continuous improvement.
