Location: Heywood Academy, West Starkey Street, Heywood, OL10 4TW.

Salary: NJC points 7-11: £26,403 - £28,142 per annum.

Contracted hours: 36 hours 40 minutes per week / Full Year.

Working Pattern: Split shifts – 6am‑9.20am, 2pm‑6pm; Monday to Friday preferred, 10am‑6pm considered.

Status: Permanent.

Responsibilities

  • Experience carrying out maintenance and daily repairs such as painting & decorating, general minor repairs (plumbing, carpentry and tiling), unblocking drains, fitting of shelves, and other duties relevant to the post.
  • Experience unlocking and locking school buildings each day, acting as key holder and responding to call outs as required.
  • Experience monitoring fire safety equipment and assisting with fire drills, responding to alarms, recording data as required by management, and recommending improvements to safety where necessary.
  • Experience of teamwork to work effectively with others and meet deadlines and goals.
  • Communication skills to deliver polite, courteous and efficient customer service.
  • Experience undertaking daily checks in relation to Legionella.
  • A hard‑working, organised and proactive approach to own personal and professional development.
  • Experience of stock control, COSHH and ordering of essential janitorial materials (e.g., soap, paper towels, toilet rolls, light bulbs) and ensuring these are maintained throughout the building, reporting any issues immediately to the line manager.
