The predicted salary is between 34434 - 36363 £ per year.

Hours: 36 hours 40 minutes per week, Term time plus 5 days (195 days).

SEN Allowance: £1,539 per annum.

Salary: NJC SO1 – £34,434 – £36,363 per annum (full‑time equivalent). Actual salary: £29,451 – £31,100 per annum.

Location: Heywood Academy / placement providers / local community.

Closing date: Monday 6th July 2026 (9am).

Role Overview

Heywood Academy is entering its second year and will be opening its post‑16 provision, Heywood Aspirations. The post‑16 provision has high aspirations for young people, recognising that developing a strong set of workplace skills is vital to prepare them successfully for their future careers and independent lives. The Senior Job Coach will primarily support young people in Key Stage 5 while also working with Key Stages 3 and 4 to help them access work experience placements and develop workplace skills.

Responsibilities

  • Delivering personal development sessions.
  • Completing risk assessments for placements.
  • Engaging with external partners to secure and manage placements.
  • Creating new opportunities with employers.
  • Traveling to placement sites across the Rochdale/Greater Manchester area.
  • Collaborating with teachers to support students’ learning and behaviour.

Essential Criteria

  • Previous experience working with primary/secondary school aged young people who may present with challenging behaviour and complex needs, preferably in an educational setting.
  • A nurturing and empathetic approach to behaviour management.
  • Physical and emotional resilience to support students with complex needs, adopting a non‑judgemental approach.
  • Ability to support teaching and learning within a special needs setting for a dedicated group of students.
  • Ability to support the class teacher to monitor student progress and improve engagement with learning.
  • Ability to record student progress and provide regular feedback to stakeholders.
  • Ability to model and encourage appropriate social behaviour inside and outside school, and to promote student welfare.
  • Ability to work in partnership with classroom teachers to differentiate appropriate interventions for students relative to the curriculum.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and take initiative when needed.
  • Willingness to participate in personal professional development.
