Your Role

In this role you will berth/moor vessels, managing turnaround times effectively and discharging/loading all vessels and cargo types as required. You will carry out pre-checks on equipment prior to operations, reporting all defects to the Shift Team Leader. Assisting the Terminal Manager, you will help create and maintain a suitable and safe terminal traffic plan, whilst marshalling accompanied traffic and movement of unaccompanied traffic, including trade vehicles. You will complete all operational duties, as well as cleaning, to ensure company machinery and the working areas are kept tidy and clean, in line with Peel Ports Health and Safety standards. You will show commitment to maintaining operational health and safety standards and ensure they are at the forefront of all activities.

What you’ll bring

  • You will have excellent communication skills with the ability to be adaptable and remain calm under pressure, with great problem solving abilities and strong attention to detail.
  • You will be an excellent team player but will also be able to work independently when required.
  • A full valid driving licence is essential for this role, alongside a passion for learning and will be keen to develop your skills and experience.
  • You will be willing and able to work shifts.

This role is classified as safety critical. Your duties in this role may include driving on site; working at height and/or in confined spaces; operating/driving plant; manual handling; lone working; night work. If successful in your application, you will be required to attend a pre-placement medical assessment to confirm your fitness for work in this role.
