Your Role
As a Material Handling Operative, you will operate the company’s plant and equipment in a safe and efficient manner, supporting the handling of bulk products across the terminal, ensuring activities are completed safely, accurately and on time. You will inspect company plant and equipment for damage before use, report any incidents, accidents or dangerous occurrences without delay. An element of the role will be cleaning plant and machinery to ensure the maintenance of our rigorous safety standards. You will proactively focus on operating a safe working environment, identifying any hazards and taking action to remedy these immediately within agreed guidelines. Working in a physically demanding environment, you will predominantly be based in one area but may be required to use your skills across other Terminals dependent upon business needs.
What You'll Bring
- Previous material handling operational experience is essential for this position, with port operations experience being beneficial for this role.
- You will have excellent communication skills and experience working as part of a team, along with the ability to multi-task, prioritise your workload effectively and be adaptable to change in a fast-paced environment.
- A commitment to maintaining Health and Safety standards, as well as demonstrating compliance to safety policies and procedures is key.
- A full valid driving licence is also essential for this role.

This role will include the successful candidate to undertake a DBS check. This role is classified as safety critical. Your duties in this role may include driving on site; working at height and/or in confined spaces; operating/driving plant; manual handling; lone working; night work. If successful in your application, you will be required to attend a pre-placement medical assessment to confirm your fitness for work in this role.
