Your Role

As Lead Crane Engineer, you will follow up on technical breakdowns on T1 STS, T2 QCs and CRMGS, identifying root cause, failure rates and possible solutions. You will plan and co‑coordinate small to medium sized projects ensuring minimal disruption to operations in a safe and efficient manner. You will formulate, design and implement improvement modifications to existing and future plant and equipment with a view to improving operation, efficiency and life cycles. Working to Safe System of Work for all activities when onsite, you will also assist the planning team with scheduling both planned and reactive maintenance work in an effective and safe way. You will work closely with apprentices, mentoring and ensuring training targets and needs are met whilst also identifying training needs of the wider team. Providing technical assistance to the engineering team as and when required, you will control the quality, duration, cost and thoroughness of all works on Cranes.

What you'll bring

  • You will have demonstrable hands on experience working on Cranes or similar equipment, ideally within a Container Terminal Port.
  • Excellent fault finding skills, you will demonstrate a working knowledge of controls systems and principles.
  • A commitment to maintaining Peel Health and Safety standards and understand the permit to work systems and accident reporting.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to guide and lead teams of Engineers.
  • You will be a dynamic and eager individual with a can‑do attitude and willingness to get stuck in, accept change and make things happen.
  • With good knowledge of effective maintenance strategies (RCM, PM, CBM & TPM), you will ideally be qualified to a minimum HNC or equivalent in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
