Your Role
As Assistant Engineer at Humber Bulk Terminal, you’ll help maintain the reliability of engineering facilities, stores, spares, PPE and lifting equipment. Working alongside mechanical and electrical teams, you’ll support the safe and efficient running of conveyors, elevators, hoppers, silos and other bulk‑handling systems across the terminal. You’ll assist with planned and reactive maintenance, keep accurate stores records, and ensure all LOLER and PUWER equipment remains compliant. The role involves close collaboration with operations, engineering and EHS teams, supporting lubrication and preservation routines, and responding flexibly to changing operational needs.
What You'll Bring
You will bring a foundation in mechanical or electrical engineering, ideally holding an NVQ Level 2 or equivalent qualification. You’ll have strong attention to detail, good communication skills, the ability to prioritise under pressure, and basic IT literacy. Being comfortable working at height or in confined spaces, as well as working both independently and within a team, will help you thrive. A willingness to learn and contribute to the wider engineering function is essential. It’s an advantage if you have experience with bulk‑handling equipment, plant operations or heavy industry, along with tickets such as IPAF or telehandler. Familiarity with PPM systems, slinging and rigging, or knowledge of ATEX/DSEAR would also be beneficial. A full UK driving licence and relevant safety training—such as manual handling, working at height or confined space—will further support your success in the role.
