We are recruiting on behalf of our client, a well-established accountancy practice based in Keighley, who are looking to appoint an experienced Audit & Accounts Junior to join their friendly and supportive team. The vacancy combines both audit and accounts responsibilities. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who already has a few years' practical audit experience and is looking for their next career move within practice. Alongside gaining exposure to a varied portfolio of audit and accounts work, the successful candidate will receive fully funded professional study and generous study leave.
The Role
- Working with clients across a wide variety of industry sectors, your responsibilities will include:
- Assisting with audit assignments from planning through to completion
- Carrying out audit fieldwork, both as part of a team and independently
- Working alongside Audit Seniors and other members of the team
- Identifying risks and control weaknesses and contributing to recommendations
- Preparing statutory accounts alongside audit assignments
- Preparing accounts for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies
- Preparing corporation tax returns for senior review
- Ensuring work is completed accurately, within agreed timescales and in accordance with professional standards
These duties reflect the client's existing requirement for someone who can work across both audit and accounts assignments.
About You
- Previous audit experience is essential. Our client is happy to consider someone currently working at Audit Junior level, provided you have 2+ years' practical audit experience within an accountancy practice.
- Accounts preparation experience would also be highly advantageous, as many of the audits undertaken by the practice involve preparing the accounts at the same time.
- Ideally, you will:
- Have 2+ years' audit experience within an accountancy practice
- Have a good understanding of audit and accounting principles
- Have accounts preparation experience, ideally including limited companies
- Be studying towards, or looking to progress towards, ACA or ACCA
- Be organised, accurate and able to manage deadlines effectively
- Be confident communicating with clients and colleagues
- Be comfortable working independently as well as part of a team
- Have good Excel skills
- Hold a full UK driving licence
