DENSO is a global mobility supplier developing advanced technology and components for leading vehicle manufacturers worldwide. At DENSO Marston Ltd in Shipley, West Yorkshire, we design and manufacture high-performance heat exchange units and cooling modules for OEMs across the off-highway construction, agricultural and power generation sectors.
The Role
As a Material Planner, you will play a key role in ensuring the factory is supplied with the appropriate materials to support production within a JIT manufacturing environment. Reporting to the Supply Chain Manager, you will be responsible for the efficient scheduling and expediting of materials, ensuring on-time delivery to maintain planned production flow and meet customer requirements. You will work closely with external suppliers and internal teams across Purchasing, Quality, Engineering and Management, building effective relationships and proactively resolving material and supply issues. The role will also involve monitoring supplier delivery performance, supporting effective inventory management and contributing to corrective and continuous improvement activities.
Working Hours & Benefits
- Monday – Thursday: 8.30am – 5.00pm
- Friday: 8.30am – 1.30pm

Key Responsibilities
- Schedule and expedite materials in the short and long term using the company's MRP system
- Ensure on-time delivery of materials to maintain planned production flow and meet customer delivery requirements
- Support the achievement of business objectives through effective inventory management
- Monitor and report supplier OTIF performance
- Work with suppliers and internal teams to improve supplier delivery performance
- Create and complete corrective actions where required
- Contribute to improvements in MRP functionality and processes in support of business targets
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with key suppliers and internal stakeholders
- Work cross-functionally with Purchasing, Quality, Engineering and Management teams
- Proactively progress chase materials and challenge discrepancies to minimise disruption to production
What We're Looking For
- Strong working knowledge of material and/or production planning
- Good understanding of MRP principles and planning operations
- Strong organisational and time-management skills with the ability to effectively prioritise competing demands
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- Ability to communicate confidently and effectively with colleagues, suppliers and stakeholders at all levels
- Ability to build strong supplier relationships and effectively expedite materials to support production requirements
- Resilient and proactive approach, with the confidence to challenge discrepancies and resolve day-to-day supply issues
- Strong IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint
Preferred Experience & Qualifications
- 3–5 years' experience in material and/or production planning
- Previous experience working with MRP systems
- Experience within an automotive manufacturing or FMCG environment would be advantageous
- Experience working within a fast-paced JIT manufacturing environment
- Demonstrable experience of working with suppliers to support continuity of supply and right-first-time manufacturing
