Hexwired Recruitment is working with a leading engineering consultancy based near Cambridge, specialising in the design and development of advanced embedded systems for industrial, defence, medical, IoT, and communications applications. We are seeking an Embedded Software Engineer with experience across both Embedded Linux and MCU-based systems, to join a multidisciplinary engineering team delivering projects from concept through to production. This role offers strong variety, covering Linux systems, RTOS, bare-metal development, and close hardware interaction within a consultancy environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop embedded software across Linux, RTOS, and bare-metal systems
- Support system bring-up, debugging, and hardware integration
- Work across full project lifecycle from concept to delivery
Required Experience
- Strong Embedded Linux experience (Yocto, device trees, kernel/user space)
- Experience with Arm-based SoC platforms
- Ability to adapt across different embedded technologies
Desirable Experience
- Real-time C/C++ development
- Python or similar for tooling / test automation
- RTOS, DSP, protocols, or hardware interfacing experience
Eligibility
- Must be a British citizen
- Must be eligible for security clearance
- Right to work in the UK
