Ensure the home operates in full compliance with the Children’s Homes Regulations 2015 and Quality Standards.
- Maintain the home’s Statement of Purpose and ensure practice aligns with it.
- Ensure all required notifications to Ofsted are made (e.g., serious incidents).
- Provide strong, child‑centred leadership to the staff team.
- Oversee day‑to‑day running of the home, ensuring smooth, safe, and effective operations.
- Maintain staffing levels, rotas, supervision, and performance management.
- Promote children’s welfare, safety, and positive outcomes.
- Respond to concerns, incidents, and allegations appropriately.
- Recruit, induct, train, and supervise staff.
- Ensure staff receive mandatory training (safeguarding, behaviour support, etc.).
- Build a positive, therapeutic, and reflective team culture.
Other Essential Requirements:
- The required level is Level 5 (equivalent to foundation degree level).
- Older NVQs like NVQ Level 4 in Leadership & Management for Care Services are accepted only if completed before April 2015.
- At least 2 years’ experience in a children’s home.
- At least 1 year in a senior role (e.g., deputy manager).
- Strong safeguarding knowledge.
