Learning Support Assistant, based at Hexham Middle School. Fixed Term Contract until 21 July 2027. Support Staff contract, Band 3 Pay scale 5-6. Working hours vary but are between 8:30-16:20, 4 days per week which can be discussed at interview. Approximately 22 hours a week, term time only - pro rata salary £12,990 - £13,197. Start Date - 1 September 2026.

We are seeking a committed and compassionate Learning Support Assistant to provide tailored learning, pastoral and social and emotional support for our pupils with additional needs. Working under the direction of the Assistant Headteacher (SEND), you will be at the forefront of the middle school’s SEND provision. You will work with colleagues, pupils and parents/carers to build strong, positive relationships to enable all pupils to fulfil their potential and access all the opportunities we have to offer. You will be ambitious for the success of our pupils and will establish an environment where high expectations are embedded, alongside a calm, relational and supportive approach to ensure our pupils can thrive.

We are a large and flourishing middle school set in the historical market town of Hexham and are co-located with Queen Elizabeth High School as part of Hadrian Learning Trust. In September 2021, we moved into brand new school buildings with state-of-the-art learning facilities. We cherish the strong partnerships that exist between pupils, parents/carers, staff, and the local community, making this a successful, friendly, and welcoming school. Pupils at HMS have an eagerness to learn and achieve very well academically. We pride ourselves on the care we give the children at HMS.

The successful applicant will access a supportive induction and training package. We are happy to discuss any reasonable adjustments individuals may require in the recruitment process, on commencement, or once in post.
