Hexcel is currently seeking an Electrical and Controls Project Engineer for our Duxford, UK location.
The selected individual will be responsible for but not limited to the following obligations:
- Support maintenance, project, and process activities to improve safety and production efficiency.
- Lead continuous improvement projects from concept through to implementation.
- Develop electrical and control system specifications for manufacturing equipment.
- Create and maintain electrical, instrumentation, and control documentation.
- Liaise with internal stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery.
- Support site breakdowns and restore production in a timely manner.
- Participate in technical support call-out rota to minimise downtime.
- Propose and implement control system improvements across the site.
- Plan and manage project timelines, ensuring minimal disruption to production.
- Communicate project progress effectively to stakeholders and management.
Qualifications:
- Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent qualification.
- Background in electrical controls/instrumentation engineering.
- Experience in manufacturing or process environments.
- Knowledge of PLC systems (e.g. Rockwell Logix 5000 & 500, RSView).
- Understanding of safety systems (e.g. SIL, Safety PLCs).
- Knowledge of industrial drives (e.g. Allen Bradley, ABB).
- Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills (e.g. 4–20mA loops, controllers).
- Familiarity with risk assessment methods (e.g. HAZOP, FMEA).
- Understanding of ATEX, commissioning, and machine safety standards.
- Competence in Microsoft Office and basic CAD software (e.g. AutoCAD, EPlan).
